A Cham Islands day trip: boats, snorkelling and preparation
Give the islands a full day from the Hoi An coast. Confirm sea conditions and boat arrangements before deciding whether to add snorkelling or diving.

Know the departure point
Cù Lao Chàm is an island group off Hoi An. Vietnam Tourism describes access from Cửa Đại Pier, villages and beaches. This is not a short city river cruise, and departure is not automatically from your beach hotel: the journey to the pier needs its own arrangement.
Separate the boat trip from the activities
Ask about the return vessel, meeting point, departure and return plans, island stops, meals and transfers. Snorkelling, introductory diving and sea walking are different activities; an island-tour label does not include all of them. Beginners should confirm briefing language, supervision, life jackets and suitability before booking.
Plan around the sea you get
Wind, waves, visibility and sailing decisions affect the day. Establish how the operator communicates a postponed or cancelled departure and handles payment. Clear snorkelling, particular wildlife and a fixed return time cannot be promised. If you need advice on motion sickness or health-related suitability, seek appropriate professional guidance before booking.
Travel lightly and leave a return buffer
Bring sun protection, water, waterproof storage and dry clothes, and follow the guide’s equipment instructions. Do not stand on coral, chase marine life or leave rubbish. Protect essential documents and electronics and leave time to get back to the hotel. Avoid linking the outing tightly to a departure flight that cannot wait.
